Belgium's Pioneer in Student VTOL Rocket Development
VTOL Rocketry BE is a Belgian student-led initiative dedicated to advancing reusable vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) rocket technology. Our team unites students from multiple engineering disciplines to design, build, and test the VTX series. A modular experimental rocket platform focused on reusability, sustainability, and hands-on innovation.
To design, build, and demonstrate a reusable vertical takeoff and landing rocket platform through multidisciplinary engineering and iterative testing.
To establish a sustainable foundation for reusable rocket research in Belgium, driving continuous advancements in propulsion, control, and systems integration while inspiring the next generation of aerospace innovators.
While Belgium hosts several student rocketry teams, none are working on a VTOL rocket hopper. By pursuing the country’s first liquid-fueled VTOL hopper, VTOL Rocketry BE joins a select group of European teams pushing the boundaries of student-led reusable rocketry.
EPFL, Switzerland
Successfully flew "Colibri" with 53+ flights
Netherlands
Developing the Jackalope vertical-landing hopper platform.
Germany
Developing HOPPER, a low-altitude VTOL rocket test platform.
VTOL Rocketry BE aims to stand alongside these pioneers by bringing Belgium’s first liquid-fueled VTOL hopper to life and establishing a modern testbed for reusable flight technologies.
Developing an autonomous VTOL system capable of stable liftoff, hover, and precision landing.
